How can I become an extra in a motion picture?

Could anyone tell me how I go about becoming an extra in a film or tv show please? I really would like to do this but I'm not too sure on how to start, also any websites you could direct me to for hiring companies etc would be great. I live in the South East of England.

What is a VPN?
